My name: Simon Rodriguez Jr.

Status: December 2008 Simon Rodriguez Jr., an active member of the MWAH! Performing Arts Troupe from 2004-2008, has returned from Mexico this summer (July 2012) as part of a Fulbright Study Abroad program.

As part of the Fulbright Hays Group Project he spent four weeks in Cuernavaca, located 45 miles south of Mexico City, where he lived with a host family and worked with Mexican children and families.

A senior majoring in history and social sciences at Illinois State University in Normal, Simon plans to do his student teaching during the fall of 2013. He aspires to return to the Aurora area where he grew up to teach history and to encourage high school and middle school students to prepare for attending college.

Simon is a graduate of East Aurora High School, where he was active in the high school's drama program and the Reserve Officers Training Corps, a U.S. Army military unit for high school students.

From time to time he's re-joined the MWAH! troupe for one of its issues-oriented presentations as he plans to do later this summer when the troupe appears as part of the Illinois Teen Institute conference at Illinois Wesleyan University in Bloomington - minutes away from Simon's residence at neighboring ISU.
