My name: Kel Mitchell
Status:
Kel Mitchell’s performing arts career continues to evolve. A MWAH! artist during the troupe’s first year in 1993 at the age of 13, Kel during the past year has transitioned from television comedy plots and feature films to producing sketch comedy and music videos and hosting an urban hip hop dance show. Using his own production company, Lyric Cole Productions, Kel has begun distributing a line of comedy DVDs entitled “Kel Videos Live” in which he does parodies of various musical celebrities.
Since August 2004 Kel has hosted Dance 360, a high energy dance competition pitting amateur dancers from around the country against each other. The show is aired in 28 major markets. Kel’s television exposure escalated during the period of 1996 – 2000 when he became idolized as the thin, hyperactive half of the Nickelodeon series “Kenan and Kel.” As a result of that show, Kel won the Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Award.
Kel made his feature film debut in 1997 when he co-starred with Kenan Thompson in “Good Burger.” For that film he wrote and performed the theme song “We’re All Dudes.” Kel’s feature film credits also include “Mystery Man” (1999) and “The Adventures of Rocky and Bullwinkle” (2000). In 1998 he starred as himself in ABC’s “Sabrina, The Teenage Witch.” He also had a recurring role in the WB’s comedy series “The Steve Harvey Show.”
Kel’s voice alone has received plaudits. He received two Emmy nominations for his voice of “T-Bone” on PBS’ top-rated children’s program, “Clifford the Big Red Dog,” and continued his “T-Bone” role in the feature film “Clifford’s Really Big Movie,” which was released in theaters in 2004. Another of Kel’s 2005 projects is starring in the feature film “Like Mike Two” being produced in Canada.
Kel moved from Chicago to the Los Angeles area at the age of 17 and currently lives in Pasadina, California, with his wife and two children.
