MWAH! troupe member Landon Ballard portrays an abusive boyfriend of Taylor Oechsel during a performance at Annawan High School on September 22, 2014. As high school social studies teacher Creston Fenn tries to intervene and calm Landon, counselor Tammy Celus escorts Taylor to the side of the gym and tries to comfort her as the song 'Face Down' begins with troupe vocalists Jillian Gomez and Leah Ballard. Jillian focuses on Landon, who later tells the audience that off–stage he would never use violence as a way to try to deal with feelings of jealousy and anger, and he implored Annawan students to do likewise. His basic message was that violence is never the answer for resolving problems. Taylor's on-stage response to the continued abusive relationship was to simply leave him for good.
