TOULON, Illinois Some emotional, gut-wretching real life lessons were shared with students at Stark County High School Monday.
A peer group from Northern Illinois hopes the stories will force students to embrace diversity and make smart choices.
The pictures and stories are real life stories with sad endings for some Illiinois students. MWAH!, which stands for "Messages Which are Hopeful" wants students to embrace differences, diversity and stop the bullying.
"As far as MWAH! always our goal is to reach out to kids and spread our message. It's hard for kids to talk about the subjects we usually talk about, that's the main goal just get the message out there," said MWAH! Member Shawn Conerton.
Stark County High School students are still trying to deal with the deaths of three classmates last November. Five teenagers were traveling in a vehicle on Township Road when it left the road and flipped over. The driver, 19-year-old Morgan Blakey and a passenger Theodore Fritch survived. Blakey is charged with reckless homicide and aggravated D.U.I.
"It has unified them also over the course of the year as event for the individuals have come through the emotions have been running up and down. So we've been taking it a day at a time and it hurts but we're healing," said Stark County High School Principal Mike Domico.
The principal says it will take time, but they're hoping the gathering Monday will help prevent similar tragedies in the future.
