The MWAH! Performing Arts Troupe — which stands for Messages Which Are Hopeful — appeared at Brooks Middle Scool in Bolingbrook last week.

The group performed for an assembly of eighth–graders in the school auditorium. The group gives performances that highlights issues such as drugs, bullying, divorce and family breakups, according to a press release.

The ensemble has 12 members, ranging in age from 12 to 18, and focuses on real life drama with contemporary music and audience participation. They attend 11 schools in seven towns and cities from throughout the western suburbs and Rockford, according to the release.

The group is affiliated with Kids Do Count and the Chicago Area Project, an advocacy program based in Chicago and "part of an Illinois–wide community services network targeting at–risk youth and their families," the release said.
